Hi Cumbria Sue.
Interested in fact you taking ferry across Channel. Did you consider Channel Tunnel? I did a couple of routemasters from Central Scotland to CVO and they suggested channel train. But then don't really know how these websites work. Do they take account of ferries?
We're visiting CVO end of October for 2 weeks (flying) but next year considering driving as will be over for at least 3 weeks. Have seen very useful suggestions for overnight stops on forum. B
Bluenose - my team did you a favour Sunday!!

I find this website really helpful & you can compare fares for the Eurotunnel and the various ferry crossings: http://ferries.drive-alive.co.uk/ ...They also have a handy routeplanner, where you can choose where & when to stop en route, etc..
Hope this helps.

Re: cvo here we come
We have done the return journey to and from Carvoeiro via Santander or Bilbao, 3 times now. Driving directly in one hit....(hard work) or several stops en route, both in central spain and the douro region of northern portugal.
PM me if you want some details or advice

Re: cvo here we come
We are off in the morning for the afternoon crossing to Santander and again intend to drive down without an overnight stop. Normally takes about 10 hours. The shipping forecast for Biscay looks a bit dodgy
