If they can book the Pendula ( highspeed train ) and pay the extra for first class.
The " express " stops at what seems like every station and even first class is not up to much.
We tend to get off at Ferrerais rather than Tunes.

Hi

Was thinking of going up to Lisbon when we are out in August

How often does the Pendular Run? Had a quick google of timetables and seem somewhat limited - However will only let me search for next couple of weeks. Looking at easiest and most flexible way of getting there and staying over for a couple of nights.

Cheers

I believe the pendular runs every day, but you are right the website www.cp.pt only allows you to search up to the beginning of June.

We have used both the pendular and the intercidades, both of which we found to be good. Always on time and clean. The fast trains from Lisbon stop at Tunes but you can then also get a train to Estombar, which is only about 5 minutes from Carvoeiro.

Use www.cp.pt to book your tickets/seats on-line, easy to do and available in English

Did I take the Omega train from Tunes? Dead cheap, on time, but fantasticaly modern, don't buy food on the trip though it's rubbish, plus! I left the car outside Tunes station on the advice of the station staff for three days for nothing. :D
