Over the years a lot of people have made a number of really good suggestions to improve Carvoeiro, but most of those ideas have vanished in the depths of the forum without receiving any proper attention.
Therefore, if you have any sensible ideas for improvements in and around Carvoeiro, please feel free to drop them in here so that we can forward this to our friends at the local town council for them to appreciate.
To avoid cluttering it with posts, please don't use this thread to discuss the ideas.
Thank you.

I think that the whole square would be improved if Smilers upgraded its plastic outside furniture. The tacky tables and chairs do nothing to enhance the corner. It would be so much better with wooden furniture and nice parasols
(you knew I'd do it didn't you G

)

What about removing the graffitti from the street furniture?
A lot of it has been there a few years and judging by the 'tag' the same person(s) is / are responsible.
Regards from a rather chilly Wales! (Roll on summer).

There are hundreds of redundant road signs littering the area. Their removal would not only enhance the area, but remove potential hazards for road and path users.

Hi tricky I am sure smilers would upgrade the furniture if you offered to pay for it and pay for replacements every year. have you any idea of the costs to change too NICE furniture and to replace it when it breaks.

Surely costs like that are business deductions, and also probably built into the costs of your drinks. All part of the business plan.
That is not a reasonable excuse for having cheap shoddy furniture.

Much of the plastic furniture used by bars such as Smilers, carries advertising motifs for companies like Sagres and Super Bock. Presumably this furniture is supplied free of charge, or at least subsidised by the breweries concerned.

If nothing else BAN on pavement parking even one wheel, have the offending vehicles towed.

Hear, hear EMM, that is my biggest complaint since coming to Carvoeiro on a regular basis. The GNR is reportedly very short of money, they could make a fortune by ticketing the people who commit such and other parking offenses. But then I heard they have run out of tickets...

So Bruce you would be happy for Smilers to put up the cost of drinks in this time of depressed economy to pay for new furniture. Isnt the current rate of pound to euro hard enough as it is.

If Smilers want to attract new custom, and new furniture would help....then that becomes a business decision.
If, and how, Smilers re-coup that cost, in addition to extra bums on seats, is also a business decision.

I used to hate the garish plastic furniture outside of Smiler's but I've grown quite fond of it, it's almost a bit of a landmark. And it perfectly advertises what you can expect from the place - pie/burger/pastie & chips or a toastie, beer & a cheerful greeting.

Walk past there any sunny day any time of day, and its packed. Now, I'm not Alan Sugar, but even I can see a simple business decision where not to spend money on change here !
Whether you like it or not, Blue describes the success "formula" very well.

I do not think that the state or otherwise of the furniture outside of Smilers has any influence on visitors to CVO.
