Which is the nearest good Golf Club

Post by Stano »

I am coming over in a couple of weeks and was wondering if anyone can recommend a decent Golf Club close by?

Where do you want to start, minutes from the centre of cvo are gramacho and pinta ( venues for the european ladies tour and mens seniors ).
A slightly longer drive and there are the two morgado courses, then there is the new silves course.

15 mins west is Alto. Penina . palmares. to the east Salgados and then the Villamoura, Quinta da lago, Quinta da sol etc etc.

For a fairly new course Murgado is really very good. I had some friends over as guests and they rated it as best out of Gramach / Pinta / Silves & Murgado. I think it is cheaper as well!
Best wishes,
Chas.

It's a good idea to always look in FAQ before asking questions. . . . Golf - Local

Where is Murgado?

I always enjoy Gramacho, the bunkers around the green on the 2nd make me swear, and I contribute generously to the water on the 17th, but overall I rate the course highly.

Cheers,

Simon.

There are two courses at morgado, the original one with some wide fairways and v long holes, a good test in the spring when the rough has grown.

The second course Alamos has a lot more water and ditches.

Both worth a visit, but it can get very hot in what is an inland valley.

Played Morgado, Pinta and Gramacho last summer.
Morgado - long and hot but a good test (my normally placid friend bent his £80 putter)
Gramacho - excellent holiday golf for mid-high handicappers
Pinta - a good challenge. Not in the same league as Vilamoura/Vale de Lobo but great value, particularly on the "twilight " rates in the summer.
With the new courses at Silves and the fantastic course at Penina this is going to be the 3rd great golf area on the Algarve.

Should have added - register with Pdfx's site. A new site but with a lot of potential. Good luck Pdfx.
