Nice restaurants in Vale do lobo and Quinta do lago

Post by david »

I have heard over the years that there are (supposed) to be a couple of really nice smart restaurants based in these resorts - of serious standards?
Does anyone know about them or tried them?
I will be taking my infirm sister for a special treat for her b/day in April.

I enjoy Sao Gabriel or Hermitage. Both very expensive but good.

You do not need to go that far, Van Gogh just outside of boliquieme or Villa Joya ( michelin star ) in Gale.

Vila Joya is good, talented Austrian chef. Ermitage and Sao Gabriel are on the Val do Lobo to Quinta do Lago road. The Amadeus is on the way out of Almancil towards Quarteira. A la carte will be €100+ per person

Vila Joya also has the most fabulous beach bar, set up like a Bedouin camp in the sand dunes on the beach, not sure what time of year it opens though.
