This bar is only a good as it's owner. He sings live everynight and that is the only reason we go. He has old stale jokes and an easy banter with the patrons. Good Ole "Bobby Stardust" is the Jailhouse!

 One of all time favourites. Le Patron is great, the music & jokes etc are all part of the bar. If it were up 4 sale & someone else took over , it would lose its charm & whats it all about. In other words a no go area. Best left 4 themain man.
However if taken over, a complete change of bar it would be.
It would be like a blank canvass, make it whatever you like and perhaps a go 4 it after all. At least it would be a new thing 4 CVO.
But 4 me I would hate him 2 leave & it 2 change.
However time moves on.

I think another Muso'needs to take it on to keep the music scene going. Back in May I did a few of numbers with the guy on guitar (Bobby?) it was good fun as I have my own band here in Holland, so nice to get up and do some back-up vocal with another player. Shame to change the formular, he's got it just right.
Gaynor 8)

I think it's because they have been doing it a long time now, and could do with a break.

Can you imagine the number of hours they work there each week? I find every year he seems a little more tired. They have been at it for many years and maybe it's time to semi retire. Think he also sells or rents villas on the side. They used to live in Monchique and have moved to CVO now.

Maybe you could buy the bar but pay Dave "Bobby" to be the guest artiste. Then he would have more time to relax while somebody else has the hassle of running the place as well as entertaining. Great bar but without Dave, there is no Jailhouse.

Matthew - I wouldn't think so - its not really in the right place for lunchtime and the competition from the square, Smilers etc is very popular. The Jailhouse does not really have the right outdoor situation.

Hiya,
If I remeber rightly there is small plot of land immediatly opposite Jailhouse, car parking I think.
Not a good daytime venue but land could be utilized 4 other things once bar opened at nite.

there has been quite a lot of objections locally to the noise from The Jailhouse -we live in a flat close by- it really is a residential area so I dont think it would be on to use the outside area .It was used in the past but I don't think neighbours were happy

big loss!!!!!

... a vacation without Bobby Stardust and Karen is almost inconceivable - it simply belonged to it always. A big achievement about the whole years - the Jailhouse knows for over 10 years. At the beginning played In
Irish Dave + Dave (Bobby Stardust) as well as guest's musician. It was always a good mood in the store. It is really a great pity!!!!
