An old newbie

Post by muldrick »

Hi people,
My name is Rick Mulder. I used to live in the Quinta do Paraiso way back in 1975-77. I sure miss it. I've been in the USA ever since and have not even had the opportunity to go back and visit...hopefully soon.

Just came in to visit and check out the place. Any other oldies around? Anyone recognize my name?

Don't recognise the name but it would be very interesting indeed to hear your stories and experiences whilst you were in Carvoeiro. They may prompt a few memories from people that were there at the same time. For the record my first visit was 1985 and the general shape of it thank god hasn't changed.

Hi Mulder, That's a long time ago, way before my time in CVO began. Sorry, but, yeah I would love to hear your reminiscences too.

BTW, are you related to the Calif Mulder - noted conservative lawyer and "Weapon of Mass Instruction!" with tech interests? Eek! My nemesis!

From that time is "Beto" still in CVO. One of his mates from that time "Sjon" is living in Rotterdam.
Your surname (Mulder) sounds Dutch, are you from Dutch origin?

Nope, not related to Calif.
Yep, Dutch...I was born in Amsterdam (1963) moved to Carvoeiro in 1975, lived in the Quinta Do Paraiso. We had house #5, it is the place that was all the way in the back at the time. Our pool area had a little windmill (emblem) made out of those little stones.
Went to school at the Escola Nova Do Algarve, which is now called something like "international School". I forget in what town the school was.
Friends: Goodchild, Cleaver, Player and the Copelmans. I think Louse Goodchild now owns or runs her Dads furniture store. I still talk to Sean Goodchild.

I lived there when you still had the donkeys and carts...I hear they are gone now :(

I partied at the Bote...a discotheque at the time. (Yes, only 12-13 years old)
We ran around on those 50cc smoking bikes. Lord I miss that.

Carvoeiro had 2 policeman on bicycles, and I remember the town drunk that would walk to and from Lagoa regularly.

Went horse back riding regularly...but I forget where.

Boy, if only I could get my hands on a time machine :)
