I heard that the venue is for sale? Is this true ...? May be idle gossip but the person who told me was fairly sure that Dave and Karen were looking to sell up at the end of season.

I agree it would be a great business. I have always wondered how Dave can spend everyday there and entertain at night. If Karen takes time off a lot of his buddies seem to fill in. It must be tedious. Most of the charm of the business is the entertainment and that can not be duplicated by a new owner. Hope the rumour isn't true.

Yes I had heard that the Roundup was also up for sale some time ago but more recently someone told me that he had had a change of heart and will continue. Who knows...
If Jailhouse does go, then one can only hope the new owner employs Dave as the regular if not resident act - that way someone else can take over the daily burden of running the place, leaving Dave and Karen to take life a little more easy.

Just arrived back from a week in Carv. Dave was working and singing in Jailhouse on his own. He was training in a new barmaid. I didn't get to talk to him for long but I must say he did seem a bit jaded with the whole thing. It was very quiet during the week there. The roundup is a goldmine. I spent the week in Carv with a very successful (retired) bar owner and there is serious dought to be made there. Wage bill of €15 per hour for three people and a ridiculous mark up on beer. Draught Magners for instance costing less than €1 is sold for €4. work out the figures for yourself. You might ask then why is he leaving but people get fed up putting in such effort as he does every night. There is an element of burnout. It is the busiest bar in the village by a long way and if it is for sale it will be snapped up very quickly.

Sorry for being ignorant, but confused, is Jailhouse and Roundup the same place?

No they are different places. Roundup is on Restaurant hill and Jailhouse is either on the in or out road. Someone else will be able to let you know exactly where.

Jail house is open for business as usual over christmas and new year. Does not have a for sale sign on it so I am sure it will be open at the end of Feb as normal

Sorry, I should have been a bit clearer. It was shut when I walked by, possibly because it was 4pm on Xmas Day but there were posters on the door advertising forthcoming happenings.
