That sounds a lovely idea..and d'you know in all the time living in Algarve & all my hols since Ive never been to Sagres or close to that area!! Furthest Ive been that direction is Lagos!
Wintergirl is coming out in March but she hasn't given the date I believe?
You know Ive just booked a week but if I can and need to (looking for longterm rent for next winter) Ill extend it to 10 days or so!
That first Sunday would suit me fine

Thanks Susie and Ellie - it sounds like a plan. I will be arriving Mar 6 until 27. if you want to email me direct and give me your phone/email, I will get in touch.
I expect the first day or so will be travel-logged as I leave home early on the 5th, but don't arrive until noonish on the 6th. When you live on the east coast, traveling out of Canada is pretty frustrating - I have to drive south, fly west, spend a few hours waiting for a flight so I can turn around and fly east again, passing right over my home at 37,000 ft.
We did visit the lighthouse and fort at Cabo Vincente(?) last year on our 2nd day in the Algarve (beautiful) but didn't get into Sagres. Also later on drove to Alzejur then did a coast crawl back - the scenery was incredible. It is definitely on my to do list again this year.

Hi Winter girl
Just spotted your post and mention of Aljezur. That is..well will be our local town. Did you find the local market and the town square in the top part of the town?
If you are going back I have also included a link to the beaches and general info about the area.
http://www.aljezur-info.de/f_e_index.html
Arrifana is meant to be a wonderful surfing beach.
We absolutely love the area it is so clean you can smell the fresh air..unspoilt by mass tourism. I genuinely hope the planners do not give in under pressure, and they hold firm against greedy developers
.
I call it a place of the soul.
HAve a good trip

Unfortunately, an unexpected illness caused a cancellation of my trip the night before we were due to leave. I woke up this morning, thinking right now, I should be just checking into my lovely acommodations. Instead, here I am stuck in a snowbank, thinking of sponge toffee cliffs, aquamarine waters, crazy cliff fishermen, and fresh oranges.
I thank you all for being so courteous and willing to help - be assured I will be in touch again soon....
Especially nosey-parker - I loved the Alentejo last year and have some questions I expect you may be able to answer as I understand this was your home. I will be in touch.
