Advice needed for family holiday!

A lot of people I have answered questions to in the past (not on here I have to add) have wanted a few things that they would find on the shelves in the UK. Things like Pampers nappies (I don't know why the others should be any different) or HP sauce etc. For some people on a week's holiday, Modelo would be too much of a culture shock!Peter Belinfante wrote:Just a stupid question from a simple Dutchman who is often in CVO: Why do you need to buy "stuff you'd find back home" when you are abroad and on a holiday? Isn't it nicer to leave all the stuff from home just at home and enjoy the difference? (that's also the reason I allways leave my mother-in-law at home!)Misty wrote:The Intermarché is probably the supermarket with the best choice for British visitors as it has more of the stuff you'd find back home.M

When you have young children, you find the nappies etc that are most suited to your child's "habits" - sizing and fit are pretty important - after all you don't want bits falling out. Would you wander off on holiday with no underpants and buy the first ones you see, not knowing the size and fit would be OK for you? (well - you may do, I just don't know you that well!)
Travelling with young children is fairly traumatic, and the last thing you need is to spend your holiday trying to find somewhere to buy nappies and other essentials. I know, as I went to Venice for a weekend with Toby when he was 12 months old, and they lost our luggage. Actually, they only lost Toby's luggage. 4 hours was spent trying to find replacement nappies (apparently they don't do children in Venice).
Anyway - it is not a matter of not wanting to try something new, it is more a matter of not wanting to lug a load of baby stuff over if there is exactly the same stuff in Cvo.
Hope this helps.

One friend of ours always travelled with a few small tins of spagetti hoops for her two small boys " never failed ".
The other thing they did was not to order " Childrens meals " but to let them pick from the adults choice.
By the time they had filled up with bread etc experimented with " uncle Terrys " bits of octupus and squid the children were happy and un stressed and so were WE !!!!!.
Why do you think the French feed their kids watered down wine ??
