Fado in Carvoeiro?

Post by dj sull »

Hi, does anyone know of any restaurants that host Fado nights in or around Carvoeiro? I understand from posts on the forum that Vimar hosted them on a Thursday last year, but was wondering if there was anywhere else? Cheers, DJ.

A Paleta the Carvoeiro side of Lagoa before Pingo Doce had a night on Friday and they may have more? but if they don't I would still give it a try> The food is great and the staff are lovely. So for something different give it a go :)

Isn't it kind of slow, depressing type of Portuguese "folk music"? - guitars and vocalist?

Casa do Carvalho in Estombar have Sunday evening fados. My friend and I were dragged kicking and screaming there in January last year - "been to fado before, it's boring". We had a fantastic evening, so much so that we went again the following Sunday.
Really entertaining evening, great singing and good Portuguese food, wine or beer included. I think it was about 15 euros a head.

O Cais in Silves have it every week. Do a search and you should find their web site.

I think Vimar still has a weekly fado night, and A Vela in Carvoeiro had it last year, the same night as their suckling pig special I believe

O Barrill in Ferragudo has had a Fado singer on a Monday / Wednesday night for the last few summers. No idea if they still do though.

Heading to O Barrill on Saturday, will check out. Agree about The restaurant near Pingo advertising Fado.
