Flower seller
Does anyone know what has happened to the Egyptian looking man who could always be seen around town selling flowers in the evening? We haven't seen him in any of the bars or restaurants this trip.

Re: Flower seller
Probably too early in the season for him. Seem to recall only seeing him in July/August.

Re: Flower seller
He's from India, and each year would come to Portugal, make enough money to send some home to his family and also pay for his flights. Last year was very bad for him and he made very little money and had a lot of roses left each night which after a couple of days were no good for selling, so were wasted money.
I would see him most nights and have an Anglo/Indian/Portuguese chat and he was very down last year, so sadly I'm not sure he will be back this year. Great pity because he was a real gentleman.

That's a shame - he's always very pleasant whether or not you're buying. Didn't know he was Indian- Goan possibly? That's a long way to come to make a living. Knowing that, if I do encounter him again I'll be more inclined to stun the boss with a romantic gesture.

Re: Flower seller
I agree with the sentiments here that this gentleman is very genial and polite.
It is actually very sad that he has to travel all that distance to send money back to his family. If he is around this year I hope he gets extra attention and business. I have seen a few ignorant tourists dismissing him but the majority either buy or just politely smile and say no thanks.
Doubt it is much fun having to tread the same beat every evening just to make a meager living.

Re: Flower seller
Agree, he was always jolly and polite, but really cant see why he choose Carvoeiro to make a living. You would imagine that he would have chosen a much busier resort, especially with teenagers on 18-30 holidays, where there would be a bigger business.

Re: Flower seller
Just back from Carvoeiro last night and noticed the flower seller was not there. I'm pretty sure he would be operating from about Easter onwards. He is from Goa, by the way. Do you know the little pizza place on Rua do Casino, just round the corner from the post office? it became an Indian takeaway for a while but is now back to pizza. When it was an Indian, it was the flower seller's son who had it.
