We thought it was great. The DJ's were on good form and definitely was not expecting the 1200 Bikers from the North of Portugal. It was a spectacular site seeing them come down the Hill from Monte and negotiating the Tourists. Did not sample the Food as we departed about 11pm as it was getting too busy. Roll on the next event.

Let's hear some more reports on this weekend then. Were the bikers behaved? where did they park 1200 bikes?

" IF " 1200 bikers suddenly arrived in the midst of waht was planned to be a family event I can see that it would not have gone down very well.
The bikers would certainly have dominated and it become their party.
Does not seem likely to us.

It was a great night, fantastic atmosphere with locals and tourists dancing on the beach (even a wedding party turned up, bride included!). We arrived quite late and stayed until the end, and it was nice to see lots of familiar faces. Joanne you would have loved it.

I can assure you it/they did. I spoke to one of the organisers and he told me that they had travelled from the North of Portugal to Lagoa. The youngest rider was 17 and the oldest 74. They went through the Village and on I believe to Lagoa. Only a couple parked up and joined the Festivities, the rest drove through in a well organised procession.
They did add a little excitement to the proceedings. I personally did not see much activity on the Beach, just a few people wandering around, but it was a great evening to People watch. Have a look at the Web Cam picture around 8pm on the Saturday Night.

The "big" Carvoeiro summer beach party was a disappointment for me, too. From the first announced DJ (DJ Puentes) you could hear absolutely nothing. He was even more silent then the "talented" singers who sweeten every (!) evening in the high saison in Carvoeiro... (Am I the only one who thinks that 2 or 3 of those live-gigs in a week would be enough?)

The second DJ (DJ China) was ok. But in fact, every tuned car at home has a bigger and better soundsystem than the beach-party-dj's....

It's true: There were many people, even whole families and they had a lot of fun in a very very hot night. But my expectation was a "real" DJ-Beach party, as announced.

The nightly music in the square is aimed at the holiday market and does seem to be popular as it has been busy every time we have been into the village.
As for the Beach Party to be fair to the organisers , Carvoeiro does seem to have very strict rules about noise levels after midnight and for them to get permission must reflect a lot of effort on their part.
Maybe it should have been held on another beach away from a built up area but then how many would have made the effort to get there?
