Hi

Definately go to slide and splash, and Zoo Marine, they are brilliant. This year is our fourth visit and every year we go to these places. Try and get there early as well. We usually book in CVO and part of the price is that you get picked up from where you are staying.

Slide and Splash have small pools for the little one, and if the big one can go in the water without arm bands, there are a few slides to use. Take lots of sun tan lotion as it gets pretty hot and the shaded areas get grabbed quickly. As soon as you get in, head for the palm trees and put the unbrella up etc.

No matter where you go you will have fun, its such a beautiful place. Enjoy

I would highly recommend Ferragudo Praia Grande beach for young children. There is little play area and a few beach bars actually on the beach so you if you fancy lunch you can eat whilst the kids play.
Lagos Zoo is also a nice day out for young kids.

Hi LoobyLou

We always visit ferragudo but just go down near the little square and sea wall - we drive past a sharp bend where there seems to be a beach - is that where you mean?

The Beach is a drive up a hill with parking places ( v busy in high summer ) the castle is on your right.
If coming from CVO you do not go into the village but turn left when you see the castle.
There are steps down to the beach, the main restaurant and play area are at the bottom.

There are 3 other places to eat, shallow water , small waves.

Ours are 2 & 4 yr. We took them to Slide and Splash nr Lagoa on our visit earlier this month and they loved it! Good childrens section, and the life guards were so friendly, even helped our youngest onto the slides! Under 4's are free. We got the rest of our tickets from Cafe Fino, which offer 10% discount. The park do their own transfers if you are not hiring a car. We just hopped in a taxi at the square, fare was 10 euros each way and journey time about 10 mins. We visited Zoo Marine with them last year which was also very enjoyable, and is something we would do again.

There is a playground by the church up the steep hill next to the town square, swings, see-saw etc. Ours really enjoy Centianes beach aswell, there is a nice place for lunch/icecreams, and they enjoy the waves and size of the beach.

A few of the restaurants cater well for children. Vimar have a small outdoor play area (more suited to pre schoolers) and a sort of large enclosed garden at the back. Maxines give out portable DVD players to restless children. The nice lady at Lantern A Vehla has just had a large childrens playhouse put up. There are a few toys and colouring books etc inside. She told me she is planning to put a blackboad and a TV and DVD player in there very soon to keep the children entertained while the adults relax!
