falling up a hill

Blue,
I can see a new nursery rhyme in the making here which will be in every bedtime reading book in the years to come. "Jack and Jill with a twist"  A twist of vodka if you ask me. Picture the scene. Both of us rolling up Carvoeiro hill, me singing some irish ballad that I can't remember the words to and Gaynor chasing after both of us with a baseball bat. Now there's one for Bebo :D :D :D :D In fact now that I think of it I think we should get CNN in on it.

I must say that I'm not a regular to Sully's Bar, however, I have benn in a few times over the years. The last time was last Christmas. We had arrived in CVO and I had left my phone charger at home. What could I do?
I asked the lady behind the bar in Sully's where I could buy one locally. She asked to see my phone, when I showed it to her she took out her own phone, took out her battery and placed into mine. She then asked us to come back the next night and my battery would be fully charged.
This was my experience of Sully's and I just can't believe that a few minority idiots are spoiling it for everyone else.
Let's all hope and pray that this situation is all very much short lived, after all we have a nice friendly village that we all go back to time and again, we don't want it turned into another no go area.

That's very nice but what did you do when that battery ran out?

DJ
You are missing the point, I was just saying that the people in there would bend over backwards to assist others. This lady didn't know me from Adam, she didn't need to do this. I would have appreciated it if she had just directed me to a shop where I could buy one from.

We have just returned after spending 2 weeks in Carvoeiro. I must agree that I found some of the music rather loud especially after midnight. I don't consider myself too old, but always considered Carvoeiro a village where you could listen to music and have conversations. If you wanted loud music you would go to some of the bigger resorts where they enjoy partying into the small hours.

January and febuary are always good months for a "quiet" holiday with no loud music, no fighting, no tourists and no bars or restuarants open.

Have fun

yes where you can see from the webcam

if any of you can see anything ou of normal in there let me know, because i keep looking on the webcam and can't see any of the fightings or any out of the ordinary behaviour, don't get me wrong but i think all of this topics about sully's and fights stink now, like has been said in this forum if you don't like the place go somewhere else, fortunatelly there's plenty of choice in carvoeiro why keep banging on the same subjet?

it makes people like timbh23 think twice about his or hers holliday when there's nothing to worry about, has any of you in this forum been invoved in a fight in sully's? if yes i'm sorry to hear that and take back my words, but if no i think you're all over reacting a little bit don't you think?

I am heading out for my second time at the end of July and I too am a little disturbed to hear of the increase in tension. Last year we spent our evenings in and around the Monte Carvoeiro/QDP areas and didn't venture into town at night. However this year our intention was to eat in the town more often but now I am not so sure. It's a shame really because I do believe that everything will be fine and it is only high spirits but it only takes one little incident to spoil the holiday and perhaps the long term dream :(

Hey, no one needs to get worried. All have a great time.

I only mentioned the fact that this establishment had changed hands, had got new staff, had allowed drinking out on bar stools out on the pavement, had opened the window to serve drinks, had openly sold illegal stimulants ,had been far more noisy and raucaus than before and a much younger clientel.(Nothing wrong with younger persons, just stating much younger people frequent it than before)
It was only stated to warn people who used to like the bar that it had now changed direction and thus be avoided if those elements were not to your liking. We understand it could get out of hand there if too much stimulants be it legal or illegal were to be taken after a hot sunny day and perhaps to little food intake.Fevers can run high.
This was to inform and not to deter people from going to CVO. As someone else said, just avoid the pub if you do not like the scene.

A few years ago I needed to spend a night at the Carvoeiro Sol Hotel and I was awoken at 1am by an almighty scrap in the square. There must have been over 20 men involved. Actually it felt pretty scary. It seemed to last for ages and I remember lying in bed and still much later hearing the distant arguments and raised voices continuing. Sully's was still the old Sully's and the club on the beach wasn't even open as it was early season. I didn't see any GNR becoming involved to halt the situation.

Show me a town with pubs and humans and tell me there isn't a fight breaking out every now and again. But then again when I was over there for a few days in March I avoided Sully's just because it seemed so rowdy. I was sitting outside at Metabixo and men were hollering up to us and it was slightly off putting.

Don't imagine I'll be in there again when we come back in October. It's not for me. More classy bars are needed.
