Ellie, I agree with you, however, from personal experience some people seem to be less than adventurous - restaurant hill and no more than 50 yards from the beach ...I was just trying to say that there have been changes in a number of establishments and that there are alternatives to the 'traditional haunts'. Carvoeiro has so much to offer and is able to cater for all tastes - this is part of the reason we came on holiday here for so many years and now live here

I have a number of personal favourites in and around the town plus I love a couple of places further afield - for instance O Rouxinol on the way up to Monchique ...

There are some cracking little places on the way up to Monchique. Good for lunch.

on the road up to Monchique, right hand side, near Caldas de Monchique...where you used to be able to get free water - same stuff they bottle - think the EU stopped it, something to do with hygiene.

I agree, Rouxinol is great, especially in the winter, as they have the largest log fire in the Algarve (so they say !) look at:

No the guy with the donkey is further up the road by the bit where you can take photos.

Ah, but the Adega is unique entertainment when you sit in Havana and observe the hopelessly drunk pervs trying to be inconspicuous about heading down there. "They are about as inconspicuous as a giraffe in dark glasses trying to get into a polar bears-only golf club" [/quote]

So you've sussed me out then! I thought no-one would recognise me in those sunglasses , and stop blimping from the Havana

Ela & Ela

Post by Robbie »

I have always been an Agale fan from the very first time I set foot into the village and always will be (keep up the good work Carla) but I was back down in the village last week and had what I genuinely must describe as the best meal of my life in Ela & Ela. I had the Guinea Fowl for starters followed by rack of lamb and finished off with the Chocolate dessert and it was absolutely heaven. It is worth just going in for the dessert alone !!!!
Just on a related note we took the time out to visit the "Titanic" restaurant in Praia Do Rocha which has a michelin star and it was also very good but nothing could have beat the meal above.

For info - I spoke with Will he told me he was opening back up (The Roundup) this week which should help the level of craic in village as it is still fairly quiet in the evenings.

We have never have a bad meal at any of the above, we were in all of the above last week and all were busy.
