Algarve Cup

Post by trekker »

We are soccer people (futbol to those of you in Europe) and I've heard there is a Women's Soccer Event called the Algarve Cup being held in somewhere in the Algarve in early March (5 - 12). We will be there around that time and both of us would love to take in a game or two, but I can't seem to find out where the venues are and how to get tickets.

Any help gratefully accepted.

:( I am very disappointed that no one on the forum follows Women's Soccer. The media are also indifferent and so I guess we are going to miss out again.

Try the FIFA website:

http://www.fifa.com/aboutfifa/developin ... index.html

There's an article about the 2007 tournament including grounds, so they will probably post details of the 2008 tournament soon.

There is also a link on that page to recognised FIFA ladies fixtures.

Hope that information helps.

well I don't know anything about women's FOOTBALL and I'm not in cvo but googling 'algarve cup 2008' proves it's a real event that is happening in March - did you try that?

5 March Finland - Sweden
Denmark - Germany

7 March Finland - Germany
Denmark - Sweden

10 March Finland - Denmark
Denmark - Finland

Some matches in 2007 took place in Vila Real - which is a way off from cvo so maybe that's why people don't know? Why don't you contact the turismo? Or the women's FOOTBALL assoc (England aren't playing though because of their UEFA commitments - so i have just learned)

here's even a chat room where they are talking about it http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=630483

god i need to get a life

all you need to do is say you are disappointed we don't know something and we all leap into action. We take it as a slight on our infinite nerdiness

:? You are all very kind to point me in the right direction. I did actually have a look at the sites mentioned, but I still feel lost due to the fact I could NOT find the actual venues listed nor did I see any indication as to how to get tickets.

I could just be dense here, but do I need to assume the games will be at the Estadio Algarve? Without any Portuguese language skills it is a struggle.

Thanks again for your kind help.
