Indian Restaurant

Post by Choquero »

What do you think about the Indian up the hill?I´ve heard pros and cons and still not sure about if it´s worth a visit.
Is there any other Indian around CVO?
Which are the best Indians in the Algarve ?
Thanks in advance

Cannot comment on good indian restaurants, have not found one that did not leave me with my stomach screaming bloody murder

Pearl of Atlantico has been bought, is being converted and is going to be serving products that are classed as food rather than dangerous chemicals.

See under 'Places to avoid'

I have yet to find a first-class Indian restaurant in the area, although I did have an excellent prawn biriani at Restaurant 2000 in Rocha Brava which has an Indian owner but is not offically classed as an Indian restaurant.

No-one will thank me for this (especially Mr G who thinks I'm a traitor  ) but if you need to find a decent "Indian" you'll be best served in dear old (plebby) Albufeira !

Alternately the restaurant at the Hotel Garbe in Armaçao de Pera is well spoken of.

Indian on the hill

Post by Lou »

I was in CVO over christmas and went to the indian on the hill. All I can say is it was the best indian I have ever had, honestly. I even filmed it as the presentation was fantastic. We did go back a couple of days later and again the food was great but I think the owners had a lot of their family there and there were toddlers running aroudn the restraurant re arranging the chairs as we ate. But the food was great.

As my 'other half' is Asian we are quite fussy about our Indian restaurants. Food wise the best we have come across is in Lagos town centre, cant remember the name but it's opposite the Piri Piri restaurant on Abril 25. The decor leaves a lot to be desired (looks a bit like a cafe)but the food is fabulous.

There is also a good restaurant in Vilamours behind the marina near the Irish bar, again the name escapes me but good food.

Tried the restaurant at the Hotel Garbe and wasn't impressed, it was more like M&S food hall Indian rather than authentic cooking. Pleasant enough but it depends whether you are a real curry buff or not (I am)!!

Can't help with the one in Carvoeiro - never eaten there.

I haven't been there this year, but last year the Karahi Indian Restaurante - Vale de Rebelhe - Galé wasn't bad. It is on the Algarve restaurant guide if you want to see menus, photo's etc. Down the hill from Guia to Vale de Parra, straight across the traffic lights towards Gale and it is about 100m on the right.

If You want good real Indian food you should try the Taj Mahal up at Monte Carvoeiro.

The owner was the chef at the indian in the village but know runs his own.

Just tell them how you like your taste and they will cook it as you want.

BUTTER CHICKEN, GARLIC NAAN yum,yum with green chiles on the side

The Indian in Lagos that has been mentioned is called
"A Taste Of India".
Yes the decor does leave a lot to be desired, it is like an open plan cafe with the kitchen in full view of the diners.

The piano bar on the Ferragudo road is really good, a little different from the norm. You can see the reviews in the restaurant section.
