Re: Poco Partido
The Tony who ran Poco Partido by Colina Village is helping his brother out at O Cantinho in Carvoeiro. We ate there a couple of times last week - lovely to see him - and good food too. Tony and his wife have a new grandchild who is looked after by his wife (who cooked in the restaurants) so they hav...

Re: O Cantinho
Yes O Cantinho is definitely open. We had two excellent meals there last week with the added bonus of bumping into Antonio who ran Poco Partido and opened Tony's Snack Bar last year on the out road. His brother is the owner of O Cantinho and he was there helping him out in the busy summer time month...

Re: Ponto de Encontro, or something like that!
Had an excellent meal here on Friday evening. Great food from a very varied menu and very professional and attentive service. There was a music group on - very funny as they spent 45 minutes tuning up, played four or five songs then tucked into a meal provided by the owner which they were still enjo...

Re: Tony's CVO
Following many good meals and hospitality at poco partido when tony ran it we always make a point of visiting Tonys a couple of times during our visits. When we went this week we found out that Tony has recently sold the business to his friend Francisco who I believe ran a couple of restaurants in C...

We had an excellent evening meal there earlier this week. It is good to see such a fine restaurant in ADM.

I use www.my-expat-network.com
It is a VPN and I can watch Sky Sports via broadband in the villa. Costs about £5 per month on a month-by-month basis so you can cancel it when you are not abroad.

Re: Where to get dry firewood?
There is a place on the left on the main road just before you get to Rocha Brava, you can buy up from 1/4 a metric tonne at the rate of about 80 euros a tonne. ( they deliver and stack) There is a garden/landscape company next to Julio's restaurant. Their firewood is kept under tarpaulins and you c...

Re: Where to get dry firewood?
Do you think I can burn a tonne of firewood in two months? It' s got to be two cold months which I hope will not be this coming new year. Wood is very heavy! If you light your fire for say 6 to 8 hours each day you will use the best part of 2 tonnes in a month, especially if it is an open fire where...

Re: Where to get dry firewood?
In England I pay £65 per tonne for softwood logs and £75 per tonne for hardwood logs so 80 euros per tonne seems comparable.steve wrote:80 euros a tonne? Are you sure? This seems incredibly cheap.

Re: Lunatic staff at A Rede
I'm glad that I am not the only one who finds the A Rede waiters to be extremely annoying. I get the impression from them that "I like your shoes" might be a euphemism and is very much a private joke between them. When they shout it at the missus that's one thing but when it's my 14 year old daughte...

Re: BLACKPOOL AIRPORT TO CLOSE.
Yes, we are all happy to take the lower flight prices until an airline/airport goes out of business we all complain! Current fares are too low - Ryanair's plummeting profits demonstrate this even with their economies of scale. As we are tied to flying during school holiday times I can assure you th...

BLACKPOOL AIRPORT TO CLOSE.
It will not be any concern to those of you living outside the North West but Blackpool airport has announced that it is highly likely to close by mid-October unless a new buyer can be found. We fly out to Carvoeiro twice per year from there on Jet2. Its a great little airport - departures is a bit l...

Re: Lighthouse (Clube Golfe Mar, Alfanzina)
I think that they have music on several nights during the week. We ate there a week last Thursday and the Outsiders who we have seen many times at Brady's Bar were on. The setting of the restaurant gives some stunning views. The staff were extremely attentive and although the menu didn't have any ch...
