Re: red palm weevil

Whilst I have some sympathy for "palm lovers - and I lost a very old one this year - I guess the "bonus" is the potential death of all the palms the Cãmaras keep buying and planting in urban areas. Why they don't plant indigenous trees that give shade beats me

Bringing "onshore" can create high costs. Make sure you get an accurate quote of the present costs - and the future costs when you come to sell again. Many have had a double whammy and lawyers are not always the best advisers on those tax matters I regret.

Re: Alisuper supermarket gone bust!

The whole Alicoop/Alisuper operation has gone bust. Banks own the lot basically. Trying to find buyers for the wholly owned retail operation

Carvoeiro Tennis Club

I heard dreadful news today that Ronald has passed away. This has only been confirmed to me second hand but appears to be correct. Any of you that knew Ronald, Elke and family will be, as I am, very sad indeed I am sure.

Re: Fabrica do Ingles - Silves

All a bit of a dead duck I think. The owners (Alicoop) are in terrible financial disarray. It will close or be sold off methinks - but who would buy it?

Re: Barranco Longo

Barranco Longo is a bit hidden away! You take the Algoz-tunes road and turn left just by the tea rooms called something like grandmas tea room (Av^) or similar. Follow windy road a fair way and it is on the left where here is the very high wall of the adega itself. Very nice bloke called Rui Virgina...

Re: "AL " Tourist Rental Licensing process

I don't know how these guys can do the AL process for some of the fees mentioned! One normally has to get updated cert registo, plans from Cãmara and other documents all of which have a cost, add electrician and gas fees ....... running back and forth to the Câmara, especially Lagoa who change the r...

Re: Licensing for boreholes and septic tanks

This only applies to septic tanks (fossas) that drain into surrounding soil (known as fossas rotas). Many fossas especially since 2007 are simply closed tanks that must be emptied. These do not come into this registration procedure.

Re: Cost of Fiscal rep - can you recommend anyone

Gambrinus is quite accurate in regard to responsibiities. My company acts as fiscal rep for many clients. I believe we do know what we are doing but still maanged to get fined by the tax department for something a client did that was totally out of our control and caused by his lawyer! We had to pay...

Re: registration of utilites?

This is not really accurate. It has always been the case that boreholes (furos) and pools have had to be "registered" with the appropriate authority. Also of course fossas and cisternas would have been shown on the original plans when the property wa built. Your query may be because industrial/comme...
