Can't agree with Primavera - expensive and only just acceptable quality. In the village - has to be Ele & Ela or Maximes. Bellavita at Club Atlantico is wonderful for food but I found the service too good, if that makes sense, too effusive. Marinha is okay. We stayed within 200m of it last year - we...

It's all obviously subjective, but we rented a villa less than 300m from Brasserie Marinha last year and ate there once. Given the choice, we would have dined at Ele & Ela every night, even though it is about 7k away. Unfortunately, we didn't find it until about 4 days before we were due to leave. D...

Well, you live and learn. It must be a well kept secret - is that something to do with sewerage?

The only Boavista urbanisation I know of is west of Lagos on the coast road just before the turnoff to Luz. It has many new apartments/villas around the golf course. A friend of mine owns a couple of apt's there. It seems to be the only one that comes up on a google search.

It will depend if you have a car. If you want to go into CVO centre, I think it will be the hills that will be the problem. On the flat, there is Ele & Ela on the 'out' road, and others in the same area. If you're driving out of town there are more: La Bella Vita; Rocha Brava; Brasserie Marinha etc....

Just to confirm, I have no connection whatsoever with this restaurant - it is without doubt the best I have been to outside a capital city.

I have just noticed this stream. As a chartered surveyor who has worked in the property industry for more than 30 years, I can tell you that there are still many agents who are chartered or belong to some other professional body. It is even more galling to us who have spent years getting a degree, t...

That's sad. When we were there in September it was far and away the best meal we had, including Maxime's, L'Orange, Bella Vita etc etc.

Someone posted recently that they were reopening in February with a new menu. Has anyone been, and what is the new menu? I presume it is the same staff etc.

Winter opening

I know this has been asked before about Christmas & New Year, but we are thinking about coming out for a break in Jan/Feb. I would guess that some restaurants must take a break at some point during the winter, but does anyone have any idea how many will still be open at that time. I presume the supe...

Look at the 'food' section on this Forum. The directions given by Baggyw are the most accurate. Out of Rocha Brava - it is not quite straight on, about 20 metres to the left first. then follow that road about 1/2 mile to a T junction, turn right only about 10-15 metres then left, (Chicken Georges is...

We came back from CVO a couple of weeks ago. We tried most of the restaurants recommended on this forum, but Ele and Ela is the place we went back to for our final night. The only place we tried twice. On reflection, I wish we had been there even more. It is as good as anywhere I have tried in the U...

Tried this a couple of weeks ago when we were staying in Marinha. Amazing place - VERY basic, Menu comprises prawns starter, barbecued chicken, chips - and that's it. Literally. There were a few places similar to this when we first started going to the Algarve 25 years ago, but this seems to be the ...

Just in case people are getting confused, the name of this restaurant is La Bellavista - not La Dolce Vita. We went last week. Very nice place, good food but the staff all seemed to have been trained by Uriah Heap - all very 'umble and too attentive in my view.
